Mother’s day 母の日（Haha no hi）

日本にほんでは、5月ごがつの第二週目だいにしゅうめの日曜日にちようび（5月ごがつ9日ここのか）は母ははの日ひでした。
母ははの日ひは、お母かあさんに感謝かんしゃをする日ひです。

In Japan, the second Sunday in May was Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day is a day to give thanks to your mother.

日本にほんでは、カーネーションの花はなをプレゼントする人ひとが多おおいです。
In Japan, many people give carnation flowers as gifts.

 

花はなではなく、物ものをプレゼントする人ひともいます。
Some people give items instead of flowers.

 

いつから母ははの日ひにカーネーションをあげる習慣しゅうかんになったかわかりませんが、この時期じきになると、花屋はなやさんには、たくさんのカーネーションの花はなが並ならんでいます。
I don’t know when it became customary to give carnations on Mother’s Day, but around this time of year, there are so many carnations at flower shops.

 

花束はなたばもあれば、バスケットに入はいったカーネーションもあります。
Some are bouquets, and some are carnations in a basket.

 

今年ことしは、義理ぎりのお母かあさんにカーネーションをプレゼントしました。
This year, I gave a carnation to my mother-in-law.

 

 

お店みせの人ひとが、花はなの写真しゃしんを撮とってもいいと言いってくれたので、店みせの様子ようすを写真しゃしんに撮とりました。
The shop person said it is ok to take pictures of the flowers, so I took some pictures of the store.

 

小ちいさな子供こどもは、折おり紙がみでカーネーションを折おったり、絵えを描えがいたり、お手伝てつだいチケットを作つくって、手紙てがみと一緒いっしょにお母かあさんに渡わたします。お母かあさんから子供こどもにお手伝てつだいを頼たのめるクーポン券けんです。
Small kids are fold carnations with origami, draw pictures, and make help tickets to give to their mothers along with a letter. The helping tickets are helping tickets that the mother can ask the child to help with.
